The universe of Warhammer 40,000 has always been a place where there is no peace – neither for humanity nor for its fans. In this dark science fiction world, where vast empires battle each other and monstrous creatures roam the star systems, every weapon counts – and every mode.

Marching in the shadows of the galaxy

Saber Interactive knows this only too well. Since the release of Space Marine 2, the development studio has been working on the perfect action experience. It had been clear for some time that a horde mode was coming– now it’s finally here. As part of the traditional Skulls event, the so-called “Siege Mode” was officially unveiled for the first time.A trailer is already fueling anticipation.

The community is thrilled: Reddit is flooded with euphoric posts that show pure excitement. Some write that this is exactly what they’ve wanted since day one. Others are especially celebrating the return of the iconic Dreadnoughts – walking tank units that could make all the difference in the game.

Famous company releases free update for Space Marine 2

The new mode is based on a simple but proven concept: three players face endless waves of enemies. Their opponents? Well-known figures such as Tyranids and Chaos Cultists. Round after round, it gets tougher – but there are rewards such as ammunition, healing, and even computer-controlled helpers. If you save cleverly, you can even summon a Dreadnought and dominate the battlefield.

The update will be released on June 26, 2025, and will be free for all platforms – PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S. In addition to Siege mode, it will also bring further improvements, although little is known about their content at this stage.

Developer Saber Interactive, under the umbrella of publisher Focus Entertainment, has clearly struck a chord with the gaming community with its co-op mode. And even though there is some criticism about the number of players, the overall tone remains positive. An acclaimed franchise, a famous development studio, and a free update: For fans of Space Marine 2, summer couldn’t have started any better.
