Amazon is working on a live-action adaptation of the Marvel Comics “Spider-Man Noir,” and Nicolas Cage is playing the lead role.

Spider-Man is coming soon to Amazon Prime Video! Not Tom Holland, but Nicolas Cage. He is set to play the alternative black-and-white version of Peter Parker in the new series.

Now there’s even a first picture and a teaserto give us a little taste of what’s to come. And if you don’t know who Spider-Man Noir is, don’t worry. We’ll give you a quick explanation of who the character is.

Amazon’s own Spider-Man

The new superhero series is set to be released in 2026 on Amazon Prime Video. An exact date has not yet been announced. Although the show is called Spider-Noir, it should be possible to watch it in color instead of black and white. The following is already known about the content:

Spider-Noir is a live-action series based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir. Spider-Noir tells the story of an aging and down-on-his-luck private detective (Nicolas Cage) in 1930s New York who is forced to confront his former life as the city’s only superhero.

Amazon MGM Studios has posted a first image of Nicolas Cage in his hero costume on Platform X (formerly Twitter). You can take a look for yourself here:

“The city is in chaos and the people need a hero,” says the first teaser. Spider-Noir already proves that he has a pretty strong right hook and will probably knock out villains left and right. But see for yourself:

Alongside Cage, Lamorne Morris (New Girl), Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), Abraham Popoola (Andor), Li jun Li (The Exorcist), Karen Rodriguez (In the Heights) and Jack Huston (Ben-Hur) are also on board.

Fans are thrilled by the announcement and are looking forward to the new adaptation with Cage. Some of them are even officially welcoming him to the Spider-Verse Here are a few examples:

  • “You know what, Nicolas Cage? Welcome to the Spider-Man family.” – User T54321X
  • “I didn’t know we needed this!” – User The_realdonnie
  • “That looks absolutely cool.” – User razeyonx
  • “Why on earth does that look so great?” – User raphpool

Spider-Noir’s career so far

In fact, some of you may already be familiar with the character from the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, where he is voiced by Nicolas Cage. In the film, Peter Parker works as a private detective in 1933 and is later bitten by a spider. In the film, he meets the “real” Peter, Gwen Stacy, and Miles Morales. And now Cage gets to physically step into his role in the Amazon series.

Incidentally, the alternative version of Peter Parker made his comic debut in the first issue of the comic book series of the same name, Spider-Man: Noir. Unlike our friendly red and blue spider from next door, the superhero lives on Earth-90214, also known as “Earth Noir.” There he grew up during the Great Depression (1929-1939) with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben Parker.

If you’d like to see the character in animated form, you can currently stream the movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse on Netflix with a subscription. The sequel, Across the Spider-Verse, is available on Joyn. The third and final installment of the series is scheduled to hit theaters in 2027. You can find out more in the box above.
