Highlight of the week – Doom: The Dark Ages
(Genre: First-person shooter – Developer: id Software – Release: May 15, 2025 (Steam, also available on Game Pass)
The new Doom is a prequel to Doom and Doom Eternal and transports you to the medieval world of Argent D’Nur, where you must fight a grim battle against the hordes of hell.
As the well-known Doom Slayer, you’ll hack your way through demons with your super shotgun and other weapons as usual, but this time there’s a greater focus on close combat. There are also new toys such as giant combat mechs and even a flying dragon to add variety to the carnage.
Graphically, the game once again draws on the full potential of the id Tech Engine, presenting the battle against the hellspawn in more detail and brutality than ever before. For you, that means preparing for bloody carnage in a devilishly new scenario that reinvents Doom in an exciting way.
