The PS5 is getting a visual update that will make long-time fans revel in nostalgia. To mark the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation series , the legendary designs from PS1 to PS4 are returning – complete with their signature colors, symbols, and even start-up sounds. Players can now permanently customize their user interface and bring the atmosphere of gaming days gone by directly to their current console.

The retro skins can be found in the new menu item “Appearance” in the settings. The highlight: The designs can be activated not only visually, but also acoustically – for example, when you start the console, you will hear the typical PS2 boot sound These charming details offer more than just a nice extra: they bridge the gap between generations and make the console even more personal.

PS5 Audio Focus: More sound depth for headphone fans

But it’s not just the look that’s been upgraded. With the new “Audio Focus” feature, Sony is responding to the desire of many gamers for more precise sound – especially when playing with a headset. Four presets allow you to highlight specific sound ranges, such as deep bass, high frequencies, voices, or quiet ambient noise. Each option offers three intensity levels and allows for precise balance adjustment between the left and right channels.

Audio focus can make a real difference, especially in competitive games or atmospheric single-player adventures. Hearing footsteps in the next room sooner gives you a clear advantage in shooters. And turning up the volume on voices lets you immerse yourself more deeply in story games The feature can be activated via the Sound settings or directly in the Control Center during gameplay.

Another detail: Audio optimization works independently of the headset model used – even simple headphones benefit audibly. Sony once again demonstrates that even small features can have a big impact – and remains true to its motto of combining technology with player needs.
