It had already been hinted at, now it’s official: Game Informer is back, along with its website and magazine.
There is also good news in the gaming industry:Just a few days ago, we reported on a hint that the long-standing magazine Game Informer might return after its sudden closure. Now it’s official: it’s true!
Game Informer was unexpectedly shut down in 2024 – after 33 years. This came as a shock to many readers and large sections of the video game community. They are now, of course, extremely happy about the team’s return.
All employees back on board
There is also fantastic news regarding the editorial staff of Game Informer: According to the official announcement, all employees are back and the whole team will continue to work together.
After the closure, not only was the magazine discontinued, but the website also went offline – along with thousands of articles, reviews and so on. Now, all or at least many of these articles seem to be accessible online again – the new old Homepage is well stocked.
Game Informer was bought by Gamestop at the time and later closed down. Now the magazine belongs to a developer studio called Gunzilla Games, but it will continue to work independently – now as Game Informer Inc.

The entire team has returned and we can’t wait to reconnect with you. I was devastated last summer when Game Informer was shut down by our former parent company, and the rest of our team was too.
(…) After more than 30 years of publishing, it felt like a real loss that reverberated beyond our close-knit team. It felt like something that shouldn’t be given up without a fight.
Game Informer ultimately won the battle for its existence. Only user accounts cannot be restored, but have to be recreated. Soon, there will also be the option of new memberships, which will grant access to more articles and other bonuses for a fee.
