Adobe is pushing ahead with its generative AI portfolio: A new prototype should not only be able to create audio tracks, but also edit them

Functionally, “Project Music GenAI Control” works like any other generative AI: users enter their prompt in a text field, which contains the desired music genre.

Alternatively, an audio file can also be entered as reference material for the artificial intelligence. However, the relationship between “Project Music GenAI Control” and copyright-protected material is questionable here.

After creating the audio track, users can then edit it further, according to Adobe. This includes adjusting the structure, tempo or remixing defined sections. However, the developers have not announced what editing the generated tracks looks like.

The ability to generate audio tracks is not completely new, however. Both Google and Facebook parent company Meta have developed two solutions, MusicLM and AudioCraft, which can also create music using generative AI.

Adobe, on the other hand, wants to set itself apart with the above editing function. Whether this will succeed remains to be seen – “Project Music GenAI Control” is still only available in a closed beta version.
