The Lords of the Fallen reboot recently presented itself as a genuine Dark Souls alternative – part 2 is said to already be in development

The Soulslike from publisher CI Games Lords of the Fallen was released on November 13, 2023 and, according to a leak, is already deep in the works on a sequel. Although the information is sparse, there is a definitive hint

A potential name

(The US Patent and Trademark Office) already has an entry from CI Games for the name “Death of the Fallen “, which sounds very much like a successor to the role-playing game.

In addition, there is also a leak from an X account with the name Kurakasis. The user claims to know a few more details about the planned sequel.

Like its predecessor, Death of the Fallen is to be developed by Studio Hexworks and will once again be based on Unreal Engine 5. The release is already planned for 2026

According to Kurakasis, the title will have more “sophisticated game mechanics” that should reach a “larger target group”. It will be interesting to see which of the three endings of the predecessor Death of the Fallen will be followed up on.

Please note that apart from securing the name there are no official statements from the publisher or developer.

How does the Dark Souls competitor play?

Lords of the Fallen takes place in a dark fantasy setting and does without an open world. Nevertheless, there is a lot to discover in the game world and the extremely challenging boss battles typical of the genre are of course not missing.

However, the successful visuals are also reflected in the system requirements.

Criticism of Lords of the Fallen

(On Steam) the role-playing game currently has mixed, slightly positive reviews. The performance was particularly criticized at the time of release

However, the inadequate co-op mode was also criticized. However, the great visuals and successful battles seem to make up for the problems for many players

Lords of the Fallen has brought a good Soulslike to the market with the reboot. Developer Hexworks would have the chance to avoid repeating old mistakes with a sequel. Have you played Lords of the Fallen? Where do you place it in the genre? Would you look forward to a sequel? Let us know your opinion in the comments.
