The Pokémon franchise is attracting all the attention with its debut as a MOBA title – and that despite the fact that important monsters have yet to enter the game. These characters are still missing.
Pokémon Unite is set to make its debut on the Nintendo Switch in July. So far, a good 19 of the ever-familiar monsters have been announced for the new MOBA game. Among them, of course, is the hobbyhorse Pikachu as well as the imposing Glurak. Some other popular characters are missing, however – we would definitely like to see the following Pokémon in the game.
Jungler and Supporter Pokémon?
Pokémon are divided into different roles in the game, these are attacker, defender, supporter, sprinter and all-rounder. For many of the monsters, this classification leaves room for speculation. A Gallopa, for example, could easily pass for an attacker on Aoes Island, but seems just as predestined for the sprinter role. As an all-rounder like Glurak, it could have influence everywhere on the future map – similar to Jungler Hecarim in League of Legends.
Ground Pokémon like the popular Digdri would be particularly interesting. They seem suited for the defender category, but could do widespread damage with AOE attacks like Earthquake. The mysterious as well as extremely strong Mewtu is a fan favourite. With its Psycho-type, the legendary Pokémon could be considered an attacker with supportive abilities, weakening opponents with attacks like Psychokinesis or Amnesia. However, because it is a legendary Pokémon, the developer could conceivably have Mewtu appear as a boss opponent in the middle of the map.
It could also be similar for Enton, for example. Although the lovable klutz is less elegant than Mewtu, it could support its team with both psycho and water attacks – and look confused in the process.
Another water Pokémon we’d like to see in MOBA would be Karpador. Although it doesn’t look promising at first glance, it could act as the team’s secret weapon. At the beginning of a match, allies have to protect it while it uselessly “splatters”. However, once it levels up to a Garados, opponents have nothing to laugh about.
The Starter Trio
The current line-up of playable Pokémon includes Glurak, Bisaflor and their pre-evolutions, but a Pokémon connoisseur will immediately miss Schiggy and its evolutions. Pokémon Unite knows how to reassure players, however, as Turtok has already been teased on Twitter as an upcoming character.
