Cheater in, match over? Dataminers claim to have already figured out how Valve deals with cheaters in Counter-Strike 2

Cheaters are pretty much always a nuisance in multiplayer games. So after the announcement of the hotly anticipated shooter sequel, the plague naturally arises: How does Counter-Strike 2 deal with it? We may already know the answer to that: Quite radically – as dataminers claim to have found out.

Anti-cheat pulls the match plug?

Valve might take a radical step with Counter-Strike 2: The established dataminer (Aquarius) has already unearthed one or two pieces of info on Counter-Strike 2 before the official announcement – now he”s going one better.

So Aquarius wants to have found a clear hint on how the anti-cheat measures are supposed to work in Counter-Strike 2. This can be summarised very briefly and succinctly as follows:

  • If the cheat protection detects a cheater, the match is cancelled.

According to the information from Aquarius, this measure is called VAC Live. Valve seems to be following the example of Valorant”s quite effective anti-cheat, which works in a similar way: Vanguard. It is even so efficient that Vanguard can help fight cheaters in completely different shooters – such as Escape from Tarkov.

According to this, Valve wants to spare Counter-Strike 2 players from having to deal with cheaters in matches in the first place. Should the potential indications of CS2”s anti-cheat prove to be true, it will of course be exciting to see how well the alleged measures work in practice.
