Gamescom 2022: The Indie Arena Booth is especially worthwhile for build-up and story fans this year

The Indie Arena Booth 2022 comes with 130 games in its luggage, including exciting build-up strategy and story games. These five are definitely worth a look.

 

gamescom 2022 is just around the corner! Six days full of new games, announcements and exciting demos. A small highlight every year is the Indie Arena Booth, which is dedicated entirely to indie games from all genres – and often produces real gems.

This year, the Indie Arena Booth will again exhibit over 130 games both on-site in Cologne and digitally for all  You can play, watch and talk to developers. As in previous years, you can visit the stands in August via gamescom.now in a free browser game and numerous demos of the games presented will be unlocked on Steam

Some of them are especially worthwhile this year if you”re fans of building strategy and story games. We have the highlights of the Indie Arena Booth for you.

The build-up highlights of the Indie Arena Booth

The Wandering Village

(Genre: Building Strategy – Release: Autumn 2022 – Developer: Stray Fawn Studio)

A single glance at the trailer of The Wandering Village is enough to see: This game is something special. Sure, it”s also about building a functioning settlement and farming resources. Only on the back of a gigantic living creature that leisurely snorts and stomps its way through various biomes of the post-apocalypse.

If you like city-building with a dash of survival, you should definitely put The Wandering Village on your wish list, because there will also be life-threatening events that demand decisions in favour of your creature or your city. LakeSide

(Genre: Construction Strategy – Release: tbd – Developer: Massive Galaxy Studios)

LakeSide reignites the flame of the rare sidescroller building games! In beautiful 2D optics you build a tranquil city on the coast and erect temples, housing estates and monuments. LakeSide looks like a little love letter to beautiful architecture. The special thing about it: You get different types of buildings in each playthrough and thus have to adjust your strategy accordingly.

Yes, that”s right. In LakeSide, chance plays a part in building, and no two playthroughs are the same. Each time you restart the game, different building types are available to you and you unlock new types and wonders of the world as a reward – all on one of three different maps. The Story Highlights of the Indie Arena Booth

  • (Paws and Leaves): An emotional adventure game and a small Kickstarter hit in which you witness the fate of a fox and experience game worlds in a new way. Could be especially exciting for fans of Stray, who enjoyed the change of view as a cat in a human world!

  • (We Stay Behind): An adventure game for fans of Life is Strange, in which a reporter visits a small town that is about to be hit by a comet and wiped out – but some residents refuse to leave their homes for mysterious reasons.

  • (Coffee Talk Episode 2): Hibiscus & Butterfly: The sequel to the story favourite Coffee Talk, in which you as Barrista get to know numerous exciting characters and their life stories in a fantasy world.

What else is happening at gamescom 2022?

In addition to the Indie Arena Booth, over 500 exhibitors from all over the world have already confirmed their participation at the main event of gamescom 2022.
