The sequel to Hyper Light Drifter reinvents the rogue-lite action game: with 3D graphics, co-op and open world. The first trailer shows some of it. The original sold millions of copies, and in part 2 you’ll once again be slaughtering monsters by the dozen. Only this time from the third-person perspective and, if you wish, also with friends, because Hyper Light Breaker will offer an online co-op mode.

The release in Steam’s Early Access programme is scheduled for spring 2023. So you shouldn’t expect the finished game before 2024. In the video you can see a mix of pre-rendered cutscenes full of stylish fights and some gameplay scenes that don’t look any less awesome.

In Hyper Light Breaker you try to defeat a big bad guy. To do this, you’ll go to various places in the world and collect weapons and upgrades until your character permanently kicks the bucket. Then you have to start a new “run” from the beginning. However, improvements to a central settlement are retained even after death.
