Many Warzone players hoped that the new anti-cheat system Ricochet would put an end to the annoying cheaters. On Reddit, however, the community paints a different picture.

No online game without annoying cheaters who spoil the fun for honest players. The anti-cheat programme Ricochet should put an end to this in Warzone, but does it really help?

Dubious success

For several days, a Reddit post has been causing discussion within the Warzone community. In his post, user Extension_Variety908 complains about cheaters who spoil his match in Rebirth Island using Aimbot. One of his opponents would constantly aim at his head out of nowhere, even when they weren’t even looking in his direction.

Responses to his post ranged from approving to amused at his question about whether there were still cheaters in Warzone. “It comes and goes in surges” is the top comment, which describes the situation quite aptly.

Baldige Bannwelle?

To expect that Ricochet will detect all cheaters and ban them immediately is almost naive. Often anti-cheat programs collect data first and then ban several thousand cheaters at once instead of banning them in real time. We may be on the verge of another big wave of bans like the one we witnessed in December last year. Back then, around 48,000 accounts were banned in one fell swoop for cheating.

So the never-ending battle between cheaters and developers may soon go into the next round. How big the cheater problem really is at the moment and how much is just subjective feeling cannot be said without official figures from Ricochet.
