The dog is not always man’s best friend. CoD pro Scump gets mauled by his killstreak due to a bug in Vanguard.

Not every dog is a good boy, as pro gamer Seth “Scump” Abner had to learn in brutal fashion. His own attack dog turned on him and his teammates in a Vanguard game on Wednesday.

Schrodinger’s dog: he can be both good and bad

Scump called the attack dogs onto the field in the stream as he usually does in the game. This is a killstreak reward that can be redeemed after ten eliminations. The dogs appear on the map and should then automatically attack enemies.

In Scump’s case, however, the dog attacked him and killed him immediately. It then moved on and took out one of Scump’s teammates in the same way.

“What just happened? My dog just killed me,” the pro yelled visibly angry across the bow. His teammate Anthony “Methodz” Zinni can be heard moments later: “Why did your dog kill me?”.

The players rightly sound angry about this mistake. According to forum reports from other gamers, this was not the first case of dogs going berserk in the beta. Hopefully, by the time the title is released on November 5, Activision will be able to train them properly in a dog school.
