For a whole week you can try out the four most popular spaceships in Star Citizen for free – we explain how!

A release of Star Citizen, despite its long development time, is still a long way off. But work on the ambitious space MMO continues, and you currently get the chance to play along for free for a week during the latest edition of the Ship Showdown event, where you can test out the four most popular ships.

Fly for free for a week – get these ships

If you’ve never heard of Ship Showdown: This is a month-long event where the community celebrates their favourite ship designs. For this purpose, the fans have published drawings, videos and even self-written songs about their favourite ships.

The competition and voting for which ship players love the most ran throughout September

  • and now the final four participants have been announced:
  • C2 Hercules: An armed transport spaceship, with a military frame, turrets, ballistic cannons and a large shielding system.
  • MPUV Cargo: A small merchant and industrial vessel designed for loading and unloading starships and stations.
  • 600i Explorer: A luxury personnel carrier with room for five crew members. Perfect for exploration missions
  • Mercury Star Runner: A small and agile courier ship.

You can test all these ships for free in the current Free Flight Event.
