Porofessor, Blitz, Mobalytics and more. They are also advertised by major streamer:ins: Third-party add-ons that are supposed to help players to rank up. That’s what’s behind them.

Big streamers like Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek promote add-ons for League of Legends that are supposed to improve game performance. With CS overlays, automatic runes, pick and ban recommendations and more, the aim is to make it as easy as possible for the player or player to win.

How it works

If you download such an add-on, your current game will be analysed and you will immediately receive tips on which items you should best use against your opponent. This is done by accessing data that the respective programme has calculated in advance. It is therefore knowledge that the add-on has collected beforehand and not real-time data, such as the location of the opponent’s jungler.

Nevertheless, values such as the champion you have locked in are automatically identified and used as a basis. This means that the utility provides you with information that you could theoretically also find on the internet.

Is the rank-up guaranteed?

Many of these programmes talk about how they increase the chances of a better rank. But is that always the case? Certainly, these third-party programmes can help some beginners by eliminating the need to worry about runes or items. However, if a player has already understood the basic principle behind his or her favourite champion or already knows the most important items, the programme will only explain that it is better to farm, for example.

Are add-ons allowed at all?

Generally, Riot Games says that third-party programs that provide an advantage for the player:inside are prohibited. This means add-ons that reveal special information that you would not be able to obtain without these programmes. For example, the display of cooldowns and timers of enemy Jungle monsters or a warning of global ultimate abilities.

However, since Blitz, Mobalytics, etc. are limited to information that the players could get in other ways, these add-ons are allowed. However, if you are unsure of a program, it should be avoided so as not to incur a penalty in League of Legends.

So is it worth it?

For League of Legends beginners, an add-on of this kind is certainly a welcome help. However, you shouldn’t necessarily get used to these programmes, because if you really want to improve and climb up the rankings, you should take a closer look at runes and match-ups anyway. Just because a programme tells you what to do does not mean that you will improve.
