Survival horror indie game, Signalis, is getting a physical release in the West later this year with a cool bonus item for those who pre-order.
Acclaimed indie survival horror game, Signalis, is receiving a physical release on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 toward the end of next month. The Signalis physical copy is being published by Humble Games in North America, Europe, and Australia and includes a unique bonus item for those who pre-order.
Signalis was one of the biggest surprise indie hits of last year. Developed by Rose-engine, Signalis has been applauded by fans and critics for ticking all the right boxes that made the PS1 era of survival horror so good. Some of its best attributes include its thick sci-fi horror atmosphere and stylish anime-like aesthetic, which comes together in a tightly-knit package filled with clever puzzles and homages to the PS1 Silent Hill and Resident Evil days of horror.
As one of last year’s most notable and celebrated indie horror releases, fans have been clamoring for a physical version of Signalis in the West. Previously Signalis received a physical print in Japan that fans could only purchase through websites like Amazon and PlayAsia. Luckily, a full release for the US, Europe, and Australia is on the way as Rose-engine plans to launch the western prints of Signalis for Switch and PS4 at the end of February 2023. Fans who pre-order will receive a “lenticular memory” bonus item with their game, which should be a nice novelty item for those who know what Signalis is all about. Pre-orders are open now on Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop.

Notably, the Western release of Signalis features a different box art than the Japanese release of last year. Both the Nintendo Switch and PS4 Japanese releases of Signalis feature a striking all-red case with the main protagonist displayed prominently at its center. In comparison, the western box cover looks similar but has a black background and bits of artwork blended in. Also missing are the poster, stickers, and badge included in Signalis’ original Japanese print; however, the developer has stated those were only for the first pre-order run in Japan and are unlikely to come back. Fans of Signalis can still purchase the Japanese import at one of the aforementioned online retailers.
For those who enjoy classic survival horror or would like to see what all the hype is about, Signalis is undoubtedly worth a shot. Right now, the game sits at a user review rating score of “Overwhelmingly Positive” on Steam and a Metacritic average of 80 across all platforms. Signalis takes close to eight hours to complete and keeps players on their toes and engaged all the way through, thanks to smart puzzles and a chilling atmosphere. While the PS1 throwback visuals may not be for everybody, those who enjoy this style of the game seem to love everything Signalis is about.
